Research and Study Award in memory of NIKOLAOS M. PANAGIOTAKIS (1935-1997) – 5th Edition
We announce the 5th Edition of the International Research and Study Award in memory of Nikolaos M. Panagiotakis.
The Award was established in 2001 with the support of the Hellenic ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture, of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Cyprus, of the Department of Classical Studies and the Near Eastern Studies of the University of Venice, Ca’ Foscari, and of the Fondazione Venezia (through the Associazione Italia-Grecia, in Venice). It is addressed to researchers under 40 years of age.
The Award is now financed by the Department of Humanities at the University of Venice, Ca’ Foscari, through its funds dedicated to the promotion of Modern Greek language and literature.
The papers to be submitted to the Scientific Committee must be in one or more of the following research areas: Byzantine and post-Byzantine language, literature and history; Byzantine and humanistic philology; archival documents dealing with modern and medieval Greek history; literature in Demotic Greek; the literature and culture of Crete under Venetian rule; historical, literary-historical and cultural relationships between the Greek East and the Western World in the modern and medieval eras; scholars of the Greek diaspora; relationships between Venice and Greece.
The works submitted must be original, written by individual researchers and still unpublished at the competition deadline (31 July 2012).
Papers have to be written in one of the following languages: Italian, Greek, English, French, and must not be longer than 30 standard typographical sheets. They must be sent no later than 31 July 2012 by email, as a .pdf attachment, to the following address: email@example.com.
